PASHMINA SHAWL
Pashmina is considered the finest craftsmanship in the world which transforms the exceptionally warm and delicate Cashmere threads to opulent accessories. The fleece of Changthangi Goat is known as Pashm which is an Urdu word & has origins in Farsi. This goat is exotic and is only found there, 15000 feet above sea level in Ladakh – Jammu and Kashmir, making the art of Pashmina even rarer and revered all over the world.
Our Process
Experience the pinnacle of luxury with handcrafted shawls that define elegance and timeless beauty.
Extraction
The word Pashmina comes from Persian: Pashmina which literally means “Made from Wool”. The textiles made from this fiber were first woven in Kashmir. Since Pashmina was first encountered by the Europeans in Kashmir, It came to be known as the ‘Cashmere’. The rough outer coat under the goat is soft Pashmina. The wool is mowed from the underbelly of goats which are native to the sky-high, far-flung and frosty regions of the Himalayas in Ladakh.

Weaving
The weaving of a Kashmir Pashmina Shawl is done using the centuries old processes and techniques. Pashmina shawl is weaved by an artisan called Wovur in Kashmir and the process is called Wonun.
The weaver works like a pianist working simultaneously with his feet and hands.
Embroidery
The embroidery and finishing stage of a Pashmina shawl is where artistry and precision come together to enhance the beauty of the fabric.
Techniques like Sozni (needlework), Tilla (metallic threadwork), or Aari (hook embroidery) are used.
Sozni involves intricate detailing, often reversible, while Tilla adds a touch of regal elegance with gold or silver threads.Embroidery can take several weeks to months and even years, depending on the complexity of the design and the artisan’s skill.
